Why Nairobi, why now

Pet owners here already pay for care. They need it joined up.

Owners spend on vets first, deal with ticks and rabies rules every year, and invest heavily in their dogs. That's steady, repeat work for every provider.

Services owners use

Vets are the first stop. Every clinic on Pet Sync brings its clients onto the network.

TGM Research, 2023

31%

Tick fever exposure

Of dog samples from Kenya tested for ehrlichiosis, mostly from Nairobi, about 31% showed exposure.

Tick control is year-round. Automatic reminders bring dogs back on schedule.

BMC Veterinary Research, 2023

Yearly

Rabies vaccination is the law

Nairobi requires an annual rabies vaccine for dogs and cats, and shows like Pawchella check certificates at the gate. Kenya aims for zero rabies deaths by 2030.

QR certificates owners can show anywhere, and a reminder before each one lapses.

KES 330k

Owners invest in their dogs

German Shepherds sell for KES 15,000–80,000, and imported English Bulldogs for up to KES 330,000.

Owners who pay that much want proper records, reminders and trusted care.

Streamline Feed

More services to offer

New paid services, all on the same record

Pet Sync gives clinics and vets three services owners are asking for, each one adding to the pet's passport.

Video consults and night referrals

Turn any chat into a voice or video call. It's recorded with consent, transcribed, and drafted into notes for the vet to sign. When a pet needs hands-on care, the on-call vet sends it to the nearest open partner clinic, with a pet taxi if needed.

What it brings: 60–70% of each call for the vet; referred patients for the clinic.

Microchipping and a lost-pet registry

Kenya has no national register for lost dogs and cats yet. Clinics on Pet Sync implant ISO chips, link each one to the pet's passport, and can scan any found pet to reach its owner.

What it brings: your microchipping fee (about KES 5,000 at one Nairobi clinic); the registry is included.

The Standard, 2026

Pet travel and export desk

Moving a pet abroad takes 3–4 months of steps in the right order: microchip, rabies vaccine, rabies blood test, health checks, then an export certificate and permit from the Directorate of Veterinary Services. Pet Sync builds the checklist and deadlines; your clinic does the work.

What it brings: fees for each step, spread over several visits.

One record, every provider

A vaccine signed once is trusted everywhere

Vets create the record. With the owner's permission, groomers, kennels, sitters and shops can see what they need, without asking for a paper card.

Writes

Clinic vet signs

A vaccination, diagnosis or diet plan, signed by a vet registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board.

Holds

Each pet's passport

One record per pet. The owner decides who sees what, and for how long. Every view is logged.

Reads and adds

Every other provider

GroomersKennelsSittersPet shops

It works both ways. Ticks found during a groom, a kennel stay log, or a sitter's incident report goes back on the record, so the vet sees it at the next visit and the owner gets the right reminder.

Built for Kenya

Made for how pet businesses here actually work

M-Pesa and eTIMS built in

Take payments, deposits and payouts by M-Pesa, with KRA-compliant invoices.

English and Swahili

The scribe follows consults that switch languages, and discharge notes go out in the owner's language.

Works with patchy internet

Record and work offline; everything syncs when the connection comes back.

Real vets only

Vets are checked against the Kenya Veterinary Board register, and re-checked every year.

Owner consent first

Records and recordings are handled under Kenya's Data Protection Act, with consent and an audit trail.

AI that knows its limits
